Updated: Woodville Officer shot, shooter has been killed

Details are still a bit sketchy at this time, however, what we do know is that Woodville Police Officer identified as Troy Costello was reportedly conducting a disturbance call on Pecan Street around 7:30 this morning when a man identified as 41-year-old Reginal Owens of Hemphill shot the officer in the face. He was flown to a hospital in Houston in critical condition. DPS Sgt. Shana Clark said Costello's injuries appear to be non-life threatening.

Woodville Officer Jathan Borel said that about an hour later, the suspect was located on Shivers Drive in Woodville where he was shot and killed.

The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene and Justice of Peace Precinct 1, Tina Self, ordered an autopsy. The suspect has been identified as Reginal Owens, 41, of Hemphill.

DPS released a statement saying, "At the request of the Woodville Police Department, the Texas Department of Public Safety Texas Ranger Division is conducting the investigation."
