Updated: Woods fire on Hwy 363 behind Lewis Chapel Sunday evening

Trout Creek, Bon Wier, and Kirbyville Volunteer Fire Departments and The Texas Forest Service, were called to a woods fire behind Lewis Chapel on Hwy 363 at 6:53 p.m. Sunday evening.

Trout Creek Fire Chief Jamie Bragg said, "Two acres were burned, but we have no clue what started it."

As for how the recent rain could affect the standing burn ban, Bragg said, "Don't burn anything yet. Wait until we get the official word that the ban is over. There still hasn't been nearly enough rain."
