Woman in Cougar County arrested for assault

On Tuesday, April 8th, at approximately 8:30 pm, Jasper County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a residence on Bean Road in Buna which is in Cougar Country, regarding a disturbance.
When the deputy arrived, a victim was found that had been assaulted and had multiple injuries. The suspect was identified as 26-year-old Leann Nichole West of Buna. West was arrested and charged with Assault Bodily Injury Family Violence-a misdemeanor. She was brought to the Jasper County Jail.
Jasper County Sheriff Chuck Havard wants the public to know that West is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
