William Jerome (Bill) Brenner Obituary March 6,1948 - May 2, 2024

William Jerome (Bill) Brenner passed away on Thursday, May 2, 2024, at his home in Centerville, Texas. He was the son of Jerome Emmett and Barbara Jean Boehmler Brenner. Born on March 6, 1948, Bill grew up in the Port Arthur and Beaumont areas, graduating from Thomas Jefferson High School in Port Arthur in 1966, and then attended Schreiner College in Kerrville where he completed a Two-Year Data Processing program. Serving in the Naval Reserve, he was called to active duty and served on the USS Midway during the Vietnam War. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Korea), and Meritorious Unit Commendation Medal (USS Midway) for his service. Bill was a computer systems analyst throughout his career and retired from the corporate offices of Sysco Foods in Houston, Texas.


He is survived by his wife, Cathy, of Centerville, mother-in-law, Betty G. Pratt, of Palestine, brothers and sisters-in-law, Steve and Rhonda Gibbs of Beaumont, Kent Gibbs of Port Arthur, and Stacey Gibbs of Wimberley, nephews Garrett (Raygon) Gibbs and John (Melissa) Gibbs, and two great-nephews and a great-niece, Landon, Jack and Abbie Gibbs. He is predeceased by his parents and fathers-in-law, Jack M. Gibbs and Donald Pratt, and mother-in-law Mae Gibbs.


Graveside services with Naval Military Honors will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at 1 p.m. at the Davis Cemetery, County Road 3840, Colmesneil, Texas. Officiating will be Don Craft, Pastor, North Creek Baptist Church in Centerville, Texas.

Bill loved and lived life to the fullest extent possible. He was a very caring, compassionate man and had a special place in his heart for abandoned and abused animals. Please feel free to make a donation in his name to a charitable organization of your choice that utilize donations to provide the best protection, care, shelter and support for these mistreated animals.
