Watch out for fallen trees

At 5:50am Friday Beech Grove Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to a single vehicle accident on US Highway 190 west of FM 1747. Arriving units found that a vehicle had struck a pine tree that had fallen in the roadway.

Beech Grove Fire Chief James Gunter said, "There were no injuries however the vehicle suffered extensive damage. Beech Grove VFD firefighters removed the tree from the roadway. Jasper County Sheriff’s Office investigated the accident and Jasper Xxon Towing And Recovery recovered the vehicle."

Gunter added, "Last summer’s drought has done a number on a lot of trees, many have died and are now falling, especially during stormy weather like this morning."

Beech Grove VFD responded with Engine 11 and 8 firefighters.
