Wanda Mae Ellis, 82, of Buna, Texas, passed away on August 18, 2024, at Mill Creek Nursing Home in Silsbee.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 23, 2024, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 10:00 a.m.
Born in Orange, Texas, on April 25, 1942, she was the daughter of Roy Hunter and Anita Guillory Hunter. Wanda was an enthusiastic entrepreneur, owning several antique shops that bore witness to her passion for selling antiques. More than just a businesswoman, she was a nurturing soul known affectionately as "Granny" or "Mom" to countless individuals who found comfort and friendship in her caring personality. In her home, Wanda radiated love as a great cook, always taking delight in preparing meals for her family and friends. She also found joy in sewing and crocheting, creating beautiful items that remain deeply cherished by those who received them. A true bargain hunter, Wanda was known as the "coupon queen," always on the lookout for deals that brought satisfaction and excitement into her shopping trips. Wanda also had a profound love for animals, especially her beloved dog, Lilly, whose companionship brought her immeasurable joy and comfort. Throughout her life, Wanda Mae Ellis was most defined by her unwavering love for her family. She placed them at the center of her life and was deeply devoted to them, nurturing bonds that her loved ones will carry in their hearts forever.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Anita Hunter; her husband, Leo Ellis; and her infant children, Jonnia and Travis.
She is survived by her sons, Troy Ellis, Trac Ellis and wife, Michelle, Todd Ellis and wife, Penny, Trever Ellis and wife, Machell, and Tyler Ellis and wife, Amber; her grandchildren, Kristie Carlson and husband, Kyle, Coby Ellis, Casey Ellis and girlfriend, Nealee, Kayleigh Richard and husband, Brandon, Kyle Ellis and wife, Kami, Shelby Brown and husband, Justin, Samantha Sparks and husband, Cayden, Cynthia, Paige, Travis, and Zachary Ellis, and Connor, Creig and fiancée Alé, and Luna Ellis; her great grandchildren, John Wayne, Kirk Douglas, Bryce, Ady, Blake, Kolt, Koy, Elliot, Emalee, Ethan, Avrie, Aubrie, Luke, Millie, and baby girl Sparks; her beloved pet, Lilly; and numerous other loving family members and friends.
Cremation will be held under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
