PNG Hoopfest Breakdown
After a 85-22 win against Hull-Daisetta, the Lady Cougars were slated to compete in the Port Neches-Groves Hoopfest on Nov 30-Dec 2. The Cougars opened up with Vidor (who they lost to in the season opener 41-58). A great defensive performance, however Vidor ended up escaping with the win 36-37. From there, hot shooting, scrappy defense, and a whole lot of heart propelled the Lady Cougars to win five straight games to close out the PNG Hoopfest. And only one of those games the Cougars did not win by 20 or more points. Beating PNG twice, Beaumont Kelly, Nederland, and Bridge City.
The Lady Cougars left no doubt and are certainly on their way to be a legitimate contender in District 22. The Lady Cougars open up district on December 6th at home against the Anahuac Panthers. After that, the Lady Coogs travel to Orangefield High School to compete in the Bill Tennison Tournament.
