Two vehicle accident Saturday involving a Garbage truck near Kirbyville

The Department of Public Safety is investigating a two vehicle accident on Farm-to-Market Road 252, south of Jasper, that occurred Saturday, January 25, 2025.

The preliminary crash investigation indicates that at approximately 11:52 a.m., a 2020 Freightliner garbage truck was traveling south, followed by a 2015 Dodge Ram 1500. It is reported that the Dodge began to pass the Freightliner and was struck, when the driver of the Frieghtliner made an unsafe turn into the Dodge.

The driver of the Freightliner, identified as 39-year-old Shane Murphy of Lumberton, and a passenger, identified as 32-year-old John Fowler of Lumberton were not injured.

The driver of the Dodge, identified as 41-year-old Patrick Heiselbetz Sr. of Jasper, and two passengers, identified as a 16-year-old female juvenile and a 14-year-old female juvenile were not injured.
