Two-vehicle accident in Kirbyville during yesterday's heavy rains leaves one with minor injuries

Friday at 10:04 am, during a heavy downpour, a two-vehicle accident occurred on Hwy 96 near Cr 400 in Kirbyville.


The Texas Department of Public Safety Media Sergeant Shana Clark said, "From our investigation, a 2017 Nissan Altima was traveling south. At that same time the driver of a 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan failed to yield to the Nissan when it pulled from a parking lot and was struck on its back right side".

Clark added, "The driver of the Dodge, identified as 69-year-old Eugene Laeger of Kirbyville, was not injured. Laeger was cited for failing to yield right-of-way and the driver of the Nissan, a 16-year-old female, was transported to Jasper Memorial Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Her passenger, 19-year-old Shyleigh Cooper, was not injured".
