Three vehicle rollover accident in Jasper this morning

At 7:21 Monday morning, Jasper Volunteer Fire Department and Jasper Police Department were called out to Hwy 96 and Houston St. in Jasper for a three vehicle accident with at least one person trapped inside.

Robert Twine with Jasper PD said, "A 2016 Toyota SR5 pickup truck driven by 19-year-old Bridon Miguel Orta of Buna was traveling in the far right hand lane. Orta failed to control his speed and failed to stop at the stop light".

At this same time, a 2019 Ford Explorer driven by 29-year-old Ashley Nichole Lanter Read was traveling Eastbound in the straight lane on Houston Street under a green light.

Orta's truck struck Reads vehicle in the passenger side door, causing it to rollover. This caused Reads vehicle to also strike a 2024 Jeep Compass driven by 37-year-old Jessica Marie Blair of Jasper who was traveling with two children in her car.

Orta was given two citations for Failure to Control Speed and Failure to Stop at Designated Stop Light. He is also said to have had possible head and neck injuries.

Read was transported to the hospital by her husband.
