There's a reason we are under a burn ban

Beech Grove Volunteer Fire Chief James Gunter

Just a friendly reminder, there is a burn ban in place in Jasper County and all of Southeast Texas until rescinded.

This means no outdoor fires. And no means no.

We’ve responded to two brush fires in less than 30 minutes this afternoon. Fires that we extinguished and citations issued by the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office.

No, we are not as dry as we were in the late summer of 2023, but we are trending in that direction.

But we are dry enough that the threat of an outdoor fire escaping containment is real, hence the need for the burn ban.

County government does not take lightly the implementation of the ban, but current conditions justify the decision.

Again, the threat is real. Please do not burn.

And in case you needed a reminder, here is a picture of the Shearwood Creek fire in northwest Jasper County in 2023. Numerous structures were lost, lives and landscape were changed forever.

Only by the grace of God was no one injured or killed.

Please do not burn.
