Stabbing in Jasper leaves one in critical condition
ETB learned last night that a stabbing between two young men had occurred early Sunday morning at a residence on 777, west of Jasper.
Jasper County Information Officer Karli Cherry said, "At approximately 2:30 Sunday morning, May 18, 2024, Jasper County Sheriff’s Deputies
responded to reports of a stabbing at a residence on FM 777 in Jasper".
According to Cherry, 18-year-old Rylan Joe Byrd of Jasper was arrested and
charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon in the stabbing of 21-year-old Lucas Stewart of Woodville.
Cherry added, "The stabbing occurred after an altercation between the two at a party".
Byrd surrendered to the Jasper County Jail Monday and was released Tuesday on a $100,000.00 bond.
Stewart is still listed in critical condition at this time.
This case remains under investigation and no further information can be released at this time.
