Spurger man seriously injured in early morning accident

An early Thursday morning accident on U.S. Highway 96, near County Road 608 in Call, seriously injured a Spurger man.

According to DPS Media Sergeant Shana Clark, it happened June 13th at approximately 5:30 am. A 2002 Dodge Ram pickup was traveling south. It is reported that the driver failed to drive in a single lane and traveled off the road to the left into the center median, then overcorrected this maneuver back to the right, causing the driver to lose control. This caused the to pickup to travel into the west ditch where it overturned multiple times.

The driver, identified as 26-year-old Cody Laurent of Spurger, was transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries.
