Silsbee ISD has released an updated statement on Monday's situation regarding an 'incident' between a student and a staff member.

The only real information given at this time is that it was an incident between a student and a teacher, but that no misconduct occurred.

The statement released today;

Following a thorough investigation by Silsbee ISD regarding a recent employee placed on administrative leave related to inappropriate electronic communication with a student, it has been determined that no criminal misconduct occurred. This is also substantiated by the investigation conducted by the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office

While no criminal conduct was found, it is important to emphasize that Silsbee ISD has strict policies, procedures, and protocols governing electronic communication between employees and students. These guidelines outline how, when, and why such communication may occur.

In addition to our local policies and procedures, all Silsbee ISD employees are required to adhere to the Teacher Code of Ethics and Standard Practices for Texas Educators.

Silsbee ISD does not tolerate any disregard for policies and procedures that compromise the trust between our district and the community. We hold our staff and educators to a high standard not only in fostering students' academic success but also in ensuring their well-being. Moving forward, we will continue to uphold these standards to maintain a secure and supportive environment for all.

At this time, the Silsbee ISD employee remains on administrative leave

Our previous article;

12News is reporting that a staff member at Silsbee ISD is on administrative leave following what is only being called an 'incident'. The name and position of the employee has not been released.

The school released the following statement on Monday;

Silsbee ISD is actively investigating an incident involving a staff member, who is currently on administrative leave. Please be assured that we take every report and allegation with the utmost seriousness, and we are diligently following all necessary protocols to handle this situation appropriately.

As this is a personnel matter under active investigation, we are unable to provide further details. The safety and well-being of our students and staff is our top priority, and we are dedicated to maintaining a secure and supportive environment for everyone in our district.
