Second armed robbery at a Jasper convenience store in just over a week

For the second time in just over a week, a Jasper convenience store has been robbed at gunpoint.

The robbery occurred just before 9 Thursday evening at the Texaco convenience store on Hwy 96 north. Jasper Police Chief Garrett Foster said, "Upon arrival, the clerk reported a male subject in all black with a mask walked behind the counter, brandished a firearm, and stole cash from the register. The subject fled the area north on Hwy 96. Chief, Detective Christopher, and Sgt. Fowler arrived on location to assist."

Foster added that Sgt. Fowler and K9 Mak conducted a track for the suspect. During the track, Mak located several items of clothing shed by the suspect as he fled through the woods.

Video surveillance at the store has been retrieved and Foster said that the suspect appears to be a black male.
