Searchers recover body of missing boater, Mr. Steven Morgan of Buna

Buna, Tx-On February 28, 2025, at approximately 3:57 p.m, searchers recovered the body of missing boater Steven Morgan of Buna. Mr. Morgan went missing in the backwaters of the Neches River on February 21, 2025 at approximately 4:00 p.m. in south Jasper County.
Sheriff Chuck Havard stated, “Although this is not the outcome we had hoped for, I’m thankful we located Mr. Morgan. I would like to thank the people from all over this county and the State of Texas who converged on Jasper County and provided us assistance. The family of Mr. Morgan and the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office is extremely grateful for the overwhelming amount of support. Prayers to his family, friends and the people of Jasper County for this tragic loss.”
