Conn, who recently retired as the Angelina College Police Chief and AC Police Academy Director, will be the Sergeant responsible for Training, Personnel and Sex Offender registration.

Sergeant Conn comes to the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office after a long and distinguished career. He began his law-enforcement career with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office in 1982. After a six year stint with Montgomery County, he joined the Conroe Police Department in 1988. He was their accident reconstructionist and was also “Officer of the Year” during his tenure at CPD. In 1993, Conn became a training specialist and spent the next 11 years at the Angelina College Police Academy where he has trained hundreds of Peace Officers across East Texas. During this time, he also served as a CID Captain and Patrol Captain for the Angelina County Sheriff’s Office. Finally, in 2017 he became the Police Chief and the Director of the Angelina College Police Academy where served up until his retirement last week.

Sheriff Chuck Havard states, “I have known Doug Conn since 1994. I was actually one of his cadets during the second Police Academy ever hosted by Angelina College. I have a great deal of respect for him and his law-enforcement accomplishments. When I found out he was available, it was a no-brainer. He told me he likes what we’re doing in Jasper County and wanted to come to work for us, I immediately accommodated him. There are not many people in the State of Texas who has his knowledge and experience. We will continue to bring in the best and brightest to J.C.S.O. Doug will do an excellent job for the people of Jasper County and the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office, I couldn’t be happier.”
