Pre-Republic, Anglo American structure in Texas, will be open to the public from 10 a.m. until noon on Saturday, April 5.

The Gaines-Oliphint House, a two story, double-pen, hand hewed log house constructed in 1818, the earliest surviving Pre-Republic, Anglo American structure in Texas, will be open to the public from 10 a.m. until noon on Saturday, April 5. The Daughters of the Republic of Texas (DRT) Seth Hurin Bates Chapter and Ezekiel Cullen Chapter will conduct a ceremony to designate the house as a DRT Historic Site. The house is located at 100 N. Ensign Drive on approximately two fenced acres within the Pendleton Harbor subdivision in Milam, Texas, on Highway 21 near Pendleton Bridge in Sabine County along the Texas-Louisiana border. The event is free, and everyone is encouraged to be part of Texas history!
