Possible drowning search continues in Newton County

We will continue our search of the Sabine River at the Hwy 190 East Bridge this morning. We discontinued the search yesterday evening due to darkness.

We received a report of an individual observed jumping from bridge yesterday around noon. We are joined by Texas and Louisiana Parks and Wildlife, Beauregard Parish Sheriff’s Office, Bon Wier VFD, and Merryville PD. We used sonar in the boats and flew the general area by air with a fixed wing plane.
