Political statement released by Jasper Mayor, Anderson Land

I am Anderson Land Jr., current Mayor and a native of Jasper, Texas. I graduated Jasper High School class of 1972, and began a career in the US. Navy serving in Vietnam. As a veteran, I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration and went on to become a Licensed Realtor. I bring a strong sense of duty and dedication to our community. I have served two terms as District 1 Councilman, where I worked tirelessly to ensure that the needs of our citizens were heard and addressed. I am deeply committed to the future of Jasper, Texas.

My track record as a City Council member shows that I am a leader who stands for the people. As your mayor, I will continue to support securing businesses, bringing in jobs and work on bringing affordable housing to the city. If re-elected, I promise to continue being a leader who understands and values our diverse culture. As a responsible steward to our citizens, and of our environment, parks, and business community, I will work tirelessly to foster growth, preserve our community’s unique historic charm, and support economic development that benefits all.

Jasper is a wonderful place to live and I believe in standing for the people. I am a leader who listens, cares, and knows how to move our city forward while respecting the history and traditions that make Jasper unique.

My accomplishments as your past council member and current acting Mayor consists of:

· Sandy Creek Drainage Relief Project.

· Texas General Land Office Grants; Emergency Communications System, Water Line Upgrades.

· Hurricane Harvey Mitigation Fund for recovery in the community.

· Advocating for approval of charter and ordinance review committees.

· Prop A-Limits the amount of cost the city can charge for utilities.

· Cassel- worked with the city manager and Cassel to create customer friendly invoices showing rates and usage.

· Conducted ride-along with Jasper City Police Department to facilitate the importance of community policing.

· Participate in welcoming new businesses through Ribbon Cuttings alongside the Chamber of Commerce.

· Participate in continuing education for the municipalities on an ongoing basis.

· Board Member of SETRPC, JEDCO and SRMPA, and Jasper-Lake Sam Rayburn, Ex-officio Board Member.

· Member of the Mayors Alliance to End Childhood hunger, Member of the Southeast Texas Hunger Free Coalition.
