Paula Grayce King Oct. 13, 1951 - Aug. 22, 2024

A private Celebration of Paula King’s Life, age 72, of Brookeland, Texas, will be held at a later date. 

Paula passed away on Thursday, August 22, 2024, at home with her loving husband by her side.

Paula was a former longtime resident of Houston, Texas and a current resident of Lake Sam Rayburn, Brookeland, Texas.  She graduated from Monterey High School in Lubbock, Texas in 1969 and then from Texas Tech University in 1974 with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree.  She was a very skilled swimmer who was a member of the Texas Tech swim team and many other swim teams across the state of Texas.

On January 20, 1995, Paula married the love of her life, Jim Bob King on a scuba diving trip to Little Cayman Island.

She was a former operating room registered nurse at Memorial Hermann Hospital, Ben Taub Hospital and for the Rad-Link Agency before retirement in 2017.

After retirement she moved to Lake Sam Rayburn.  Paula loved traveling, reading, gardening, spending time at the deer lease, scuba diving and her dog, “Beau”.  

She is survived by her husband of 29 years, Jim Bob King, resident of Brookeland, Texas; sister-in-law, Julianne Hodges and husband John of Kirbyville, Texas; sisters, Donna Lee Ketcherside of St. Louis, Missouri and Joan Diane Hitchcock of Napa Valley, California.

Paula was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Alma Hitchcock.
