Official Obituary of Gill Wayne Westbrook, Sr. November 27, 1950 - November 3, 2024
Gill Wayne Westbrook, Sr., 73, of Call passed away Sunday, November 3, 2024 at Clear Lake Regional Health Center in Webster.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, November 7 at Gateway Tabernacle Church in Kirbyville with burial at Bean Cemetery. Visitation was held Wednesday, November 6 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Gateway Tabernacle. Services are under the direction of Adams EE Stringer Funeral home in Kirbyville.
Born November 27, 1950 in Call to Johnny Elbert “J.E.” and Rilla Westbrook, he lived in Call most of his life. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of Vietnam and a retired truck driver. He was known in the trucking world as “Turkey.”
Gill was a member of the Kirbyville Apostolic Church most of his life. He also attended Vision Outreach and Gateway Tabernacle. He had five ministers, his nephew Rev. Shane Mitchell, his great-nephew Rev. Jace Mitchell, Rev. M.R. Hennigan, Rev. Danny Lewis and Rev. Danny Bentsen, whom all touched his life in special ways.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Linda Jean Westbrook and his parents.
Survivors include his sons, James Hall and Belinda of Kirbyville and Gill Wayne Westbrook, Jr. “Boudreaux” and Kayla of Call; daughters, Stephanie Hall and Monkey of Newton and Rhonda Westbrook of Call; sisters, Sheila Mitchell and Danny of Call and Margie Cofty and Tommy of Buna; brothers, Johnny Westbrook, Jr. and Linda of Kountze and Richard and Rhonda Westbrook of Buna; grandchildren, Lacey and Mikey Howell, Michele and Hagen Nichols, Morgan and Justin Cyr, Justin DeRouen, Destiney Hall and Skyler, Sammy Davis, Anthony Hall, Emma Walker and Jameson Walker; great-grandchildren, Ryan and Riley Cyr and Harrison Gore; and numerous nieces and nephews.
