Obituary of Sheryl Mitcham August 29, 1960 - February 23, 2025

Sheryl Mitcham, 64, of Chester, passed away Sunday, February 23, 2025 at Woodland Heights Medical Center in Lufkin, Texas.

Visitation will be held from 5:30 – 7 p.m. on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home Chapel in Woodville.

Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, February 27, 2025 at Feagin Cemetery in Hortense, Texas. Officiating will be Brother Hails Taylor. Serving as pallbearers will be Justin Mitcham, Josh Duncan, Ricky Pate, J.W. Mitcham, J.T. Duncan, and Grady Duncan.

Sheryl was born August 29, 1960 to Roy and Bessie Myrtice Futch Clamon in Woodville, Texas. A graduate of Chester High School, she went on to receive her bachelor degree in Special Education from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas. She retired as a Special Education teacher having taught in Woodville, Warren and Chester. She enjoyed her dogs, horses and deer hunting, but Sheryl loved her family, especially her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Bessie Clamon; sister, Lynell Clamon; brothers, Don Clamon and Lynn Clamon; and granddaughter, Alicyn Mitcham.

She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Gary Mitcham of Chester; sons, Justin Mitcham and wife Heather of Colmesneil and Josh Duncan and fiancé Laura David of Chester; brother, Dale Clamon and wife Susan of Chester; sister, Janice Whitworth and husband John of Chester; sister-in-law, Wanda Clamon of Hortense; grandchildren, Brooke Mitcham, J.W. Mitcham, J.T. Duncan, and Grady Duncan; and special friends, Sheila Smith and Suzanne Rigby.
