Richard Marion Coker, 84, of Woodville passed away Thursday, April 3, 2025 at Tyler County Hospital in Woodville, Texas.
Visitation will begin at 11 a.m., followed by service at 1 p.m. on Sunday, April 6, 2025 at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home Chapel in Woodville. Officiating will be Brother Bill Sager. Serving as pallbearers will be Brian Coker, Austin Coker, Justin Coker, Cameron Coker, Aaron Burkhard, Nick Rhame, Adam Burkhard, Josh Rhame and Noah Coker.
Richard was born September 15, 1940 to Richard Alexander Coker and Eula Mae Burns in Liberty, Texas. He was a longtime resident of Woodville, and a graduate of Lamar High School in Houston. Richard was a member of Faith Lutheran church in Woodville where he served as President & Elder for many years. He served as President of several Southeast Texas banks, before becoming an owner/operator of Whites & Napa Auto stores. Richard became a Texas licensed insurance agent, owning and operating the Farmers Insurance Agency in Lufkin. He was President of Caring Is Sharing in Woodville, and Treasurer of the Ivanhoe Volunteer Fire Department.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Carole Anne Coker; sister, Dorothy Gillen; brother, Rudy Coker; and daughter-in-law, Rene Coker.
He is survived by his sons, David Coker and wife, Vicky of Warren, Ricky Coker and wife, Tina of Woodville, Tom Coker and wife, Kim of Burnet; daughters, Jill Rhame and husband, Kenny of Buna, Jana Burkhard and husband, Ron of Pearland; grandchildren, Brian, Ashley, Justin, Kimmy, Aaron, Allyson, Adam, Austin, Cameron, Kristin, Nick, Josh, Hannah and Noah; 13 great grandchildren, with one on the way; and a special friend and companion, Janice Page.
