Mary Ethelene Sittig, 76, of Eunice, Louisiana, formerly of Chester, Texas, passed away Saturday, October 5, 2024, surrounded by her children in Eunice, Louisiana.
Rosary services will begin at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, October 19, 2024, followed by visitation from 12 noon to 1 p.m. at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home Chapel in Woodville, Texas. Graveside services will follow at 3 p.m. at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Chester, Texas. Officiating will be Deacon David Luther. Serving as pallbearers will be her son Jamie Sittig, son-in-law Marc Carmichael, and grandsons Chaz Carmichael, Zachary Taylor, Jaden Sittig, and Layton Sittig.
Ethelene was born June 7, 1948, to Eugene and Vernice Leger Darbonne in Lawtell, Louisiana. She was a retired telephone operator with AT&T. Ethelene enjoyed sewing, quilting, cooking and most of all, spending time with her family. She was a member of Our Lady of the Pines Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Vernice Darbonne; and loving husband of 52 years, Lammy James Sittig, Sr.
She is survived by her daughters, Laura Sittig Carmichael and husband Marc of Chesapeake, Virginia; Leslie Sittig of Biloxi, Mississippi; and son Lammy “Jamie” Sittig and wife Candy of Eunice, Louisiana; grandchildren, Chaz Carmichael, Kelli Carmichael, Kailyn Carmichael, Briana Perez, Lacy Bull, Zachary Taylor, Jordan Cole, Caleb Sittig, Jayden Sittig, Layton Sittig; great grandchildren, Rowan Davis, Mairi Perez, Selena Carmichael, Joyner Perez, and Tobias Sittig; siblings, Lee Robert Darbonne, Carolyn Darbonne, Lenora Faye Speight, and Lisa Darbonne.
