Obituary of Margaret Ann Read December 19, 1930 - December 3, 2024
Margaret Ann Read, 93, of Warren, passed away Tuesday, December 3, 2024 at her residence in Warren, Texas.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. service time on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home Chapel in Woodville with burial to follow in Fellowship Cemetery in Warren. Officiating will be Deacon David Luther, Brother Jimbo Swinney and Brother Walter McAlpin. Serving as pallbearers will be Will Dennis Chessher, Todd Read, Zach Simmons, Scott Read, Sam Bridges, and John Wacasey. Honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie Read, Lane Simon, Chase Simon, and Lynwood Lawson.
Margaret was born December 19, 1930 to Paul and Amy Burke Landry in Saratoga, Texas. She was a 1947 graduate and valedictorian of Saratoga High School. Always an athlete, she excelled as a champion bowler and was known to be a good dancer. Always involved with her family, she was active in PTA, athletics and band booster clubs. Margaret was an accomplished seamstress and kept her family well clothed. She was a huge Dallas Cowboy and Houston Astro fan. Christmas was her favorite time of the year. Margaret was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother that was always there for her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Amy Landry; brother, Nick Landry; sisters, Violet Lawson, Daisy Bible, and Rosemary Edwards.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Ivison Read of Warren; sons, Mark Read and wife Christine of Winnie, Scott Read and partner Dan Garza of Houston, Todd Read and wife Michele of Katy; daughters, Rosanne Sontag and husband Perry of Fulshear, and Paula Read of Houston; 10 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren.
