Obituary of Lee R. Prewitt April 4, 1929 - March 7, 2025

A Celebration of Lee R. Prewitt’s Life, age 95, of Hemphill, Texas, will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 14, 2025 at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home in Jasper, Texas. Graveside service will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 14, 2025 at Good Hope Cemetery, Anacocco, LA. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the Funeral Home.


Lee passed away on Friday, March 7, 2025 in Hemphill, Texas.


A native of Leesville, Louisiana, Lee had lived in the Fairmount Community on Lake Toledo Bend for the past four years. He was a United States Air Force veteran, member of the Port Neches-Groves Masonic Lodge AFAM # 1163 and had retired from Texaco in Port Arthur, Texas after 40 years of service. Lee enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching the birds. He loved traveling and liked to go to Colorado and stay for months.


Lee is survived by his son, Raymond Prewitt and wife Debbie of Hemphill, Texas; daughter, Debra Sims and husband Sheldon of Burkeville, Texas; many grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by his parents, James Washington Prewitt and Edith Ethyel Palmer Prewitt; wife of 70 years, Leola Prewitt; daughter, Jannette Teague, sister, Vonziel Prewitt Addison and brother, Virgil Edgar Prewitt.

Services are under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home of Jasper.
