Obituary of Julia Augusta Lindsey October 22, 1928 - September 26, 2024
Julia Muller Lindsey, 95, died peacefully at her home on September 26, 2024 in Jasper, Texas. She had been a proud resident of Jasper for 75 years. She was born in Livingston, Texas, on October 22nd, 1928.
She attended seven different high school before Southern Methodist University where she was a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority. At SMU Julia captured the eye of a handsome young man, Preston Edward Lindsey. They were married on January 25th, 1948 and they shared 45 years of marriage. They moved to Jasper in 1949, built a life rooted in family, faith, and community.
They reared three sons, Ed, Jeff, Louis, and one granddaughter, Jessica. Her family was her greatest joy, and she showered her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and loved ones with endless care and devotion.
Julia was active in her church and community as a Sunday School teacher, church officer, room mother, den mother, and chairman of the Junior Civic club.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Julia lived a life filled with love, generosity, and an unwavering commitment to those around her.
Known for her generous heart and incredible hospitality, Julia made every holiday a special occasion. She delighted in bringing people together, creating lasting memories for all ages. Whether it was a small gathering or a grand celebration, she was the best hostess anyone could ask for, ensuring that everyone felt welcomed and cherished.
Every day was a celebration to Julia. She believed that even the simplest moments deserved to be honored, serving each meal with her cherished sterling silver and beautiful linens. Her table was a reflection of her belief that there is always something to be grateful for, and that love and joy should be shared at every opportunity.
For 33 years, she faithfully taught Sunday School, sharing her love of faith with children and adults alike. She was active in her church and community as a Sunday School teacher, church officer, room mother, den mother, and chairman of the Junior Civic club. Her lessons not only shaped lives but also touched hearts, and her kindness and wisdom will be remembered by all who were fortunate enough to have heard her stories.
A talented seamstress, she also had a special tradition of crafting handmade baby blankets for every child born to someone she loved, leaving a legacy of love in each stitch.
Julia will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her spirit will live on in the lives she touched. She leaves behind a family who will forever treasure her warmth, kindness, and generosity
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the Ella Franks and Earl Smith who dedicated much of their lives to caring for Julia. Their loyal service, love, and devotion provided comfort and companionship to her throughout her life. We are profoundly grateful for the years they spent by her side, ensuring she lived with dignity, joy, and support. They are a true part of our family.
Julia was preceded in death by her husband of forty-five years P.E. Lindsey, and her son Jeff Lindsey.
She is survived by her brother, Jerome Muller of San Francisco; son, Ed Lindsey of Jasper & wife Belinda, son, Louis Lindsey of Jasper & wife Alisa; granddaughter, Jessica Farrow of Austin, and husband Dallas; grandson, Kevin Lindsey of Coeur d’Alene, & wife Liz; four great grand-children, Piercen Farrow, Hudson Farrow, Jillian Farrow, and Ronan Lindsey.
The memorial service will be held at First Methodist Church of Jasper at 10:00am Friday, October 4, 2024. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Stringer and Griffin from 5:00-7:00pm on Thursday, October 3, 2024. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her honor to First Methodist Church of Jasper located at 329 Bowie Street, Jasper, Texas 75951
