Jo Ann Stephenson, lovingly known as MeMe passed away peacefully on February 27, 2025 after a courageous and long battle with cancer at Harbor Hospice in Jasper, Texas. A beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother, Jo Ann’s impact on those fortunate enough to know her will endure for generations to come.

Born on November 12, 1947, in Jasper, Texas, to Mary Lou Gage and Willie Barthol, Jo Ann was a graduate of Jasper High School, Class of 1966. Her life journey took a beautiful turn when she married her soulmate, Jimmy Stephenson, on April 16, 1971. Together, they raised five children. As a mother and grandmother, Jo Ann was a nurturing force, always prioritizing her family and fostering strong connections with her loved ones. She approached life's challenges with unparalleled resilience and grace. Her love of nature and plants blossomed into a lifelong passion. At the end of the day, she enjoyed winding down on the couch and watching her favorite show Yellowstone on repeat. Though she is no longer with us, Jo Ann’s legacy of love, strength, and determination will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. We are at peace knowing she is happily reunited with her beautiful daughter Amy.

Jo Ann is survived by her husband Jimmy, their children: Melissa, Ashley (husband: Corby), Jared, & Jacoby; grandchildren: Meagan, Brittaney (husband: Tre), Katie, Julianna, Lacey, Dawson, Jake, & Cole; great-grand children, Jayden, Arli, Hazel, Evelyn, Leah, Cindy, and Sophia; and siblings, Judy (husband: James), Randy (wife: Mindy) , Jack (wife: Sandy), Ernie (wife: Kay), Kimberly (husband: Rick), Bubba (wife: Cindy), & Martha (husband: Jeff).
