Obituary of Jewel Irby October 5, 1930 - January 27, 2025

Jewel Stockman Irby, Age 94, of Colmesneil, TX (formerly of Port Arthur, TX), passed away peacefully January 27, 2025. Jewel was born in LeCompte, Louisiana on October 5, 1930 to Alvin Baynard Stockman Sr. and Agnes Amanda Rogers Stockman. She was a 1948 graduate of Kirbyville High School where she graduated in the top of her class, FFA Sweetheart and a Cheerleader. For a career, Jewel chose to become a nurse. Jewel was a member of First Baptist Church Colmesneil and a former member of First Baptist Church Port Arthur where she was active in Sunday School, the Church Choir, and worked in the Church Library. Jewel loved music and liked to play the piano and sing. Most of all, Jewel loved sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ to everyone she met.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Hill Gibson Irby Jr.; parents Alvin, Sr. and Agnes Stockman; and brother, Alvin Stockman, Jr. She is survived by her 3 children Myra Fitzgerald (Jim) of Colmesneil, TX, Glenn Irby of Groves, TX, and Lori Irby Walker (Darrin) of Dickinson, TX; 5 grandchildren Jeff Fitzgerald (Amy), Chad Fitzgerald (Jamie), Emily Irby Paloski (Nick), Sophie Irby Freeman (Ebenn), and Austin Walker; and 8 great-grandchildren Avery, Aiden, Jackson, Brylee, Jenny, Griffin, Logan, and Ellis.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, February 1, 2025 at 11 a.m. at Memory Gardens in Nederland, TX. Dr. Joey Brent officiating. Family and friends are welcome. Serving as pallbearers are Jeff Fitzgerald, Chad Fitzgerald, Austin Walker, Nick Paloski, Aiden Fitzgerald, Jackson Fitzgerald, and Ebenn Crumpler.
