Obituary of J.R. "Dick" Johnston February 12, 1934 - March 12, 2025 U.S. Veteran

J.R. “Dick” Johnston, 91, of Warren, passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2025 at Dogwood Trails Manor in Woodville, Texas.

Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. until 3 p.m. service time on Sunday, March 16, 2025 at First Baptist Church in Warren. Officiating will be Dr. David Mahfouz with Military Honors provided by the U.S. Air Force.

Dick was born February 12, 1934 to George Washington and Elsie Mauldin Johnston in Norphlet, Arkansas. A longtime resident of Warren. He was a retired electrical engineer from Goodyear Tire & Rubber and was former longtime music director and deacon at First Baptist Church of Warren.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Mary Jean Johnston of Warren; sons, Scott Johnston and wife, Rhonda of Wildwood, and Rex Johnston of Beaumont; sister, Peggy Luttrell of Kilgore; grandchildren, Ross Johnston, Jared Johnston, Jordan Johnston and wife Paige, Julie Blankenship and husband Ty, Brianna Johnston, and Chloe Johnston; and 10 great grandchildren.

Services are under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home in Woodville, Texas.
