Obituary of Doug Harry June 23, 1958 - April 11, 2025

Doug Harry, 66, of Reklaw, Texas passed away, Friday, April 11, 2025 at Hospice of East Texas in Tyler, Texas.


Visitation will be 1:30 until 3 p.m. service time on Sunday, April 13, 2025 at Katy Baptist Church in Colmesneil with burial to follow in Magnolia Cemetery in Woodville, Texas. Officiating will be Brother Bubba Sheffield assisted by Brother Chase Murphy and Brother Jerry Bennet. Serving as pallbearers will be Chad Harry, Logan Harry, Robert Harry, Chad Patrrick, Cameron Harry, and Derek Marshall. Honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Barton and Bill Bailey.


Doug was born June 23, 1958 to John Edwin and Maddie Sue Bryce Harry in Houston, Texas. A former resident of Woodville and Colmesneil, he had lived in Reklaw for the past 15 years. Doug was a deacon in Reklaw Baptist Church and was a former member of Katy Baptist Church in Colmesneil, Texas where he was the Children’s Church Leader and Young Adults Sunday School Teacher. A 1976 graduate of the Old Kirby High School in Woodville, he was a former supervisor and master machinist at Lufkin Industries in Lufkin, Texas. Doug often sang “Lovin You” to his boys in the morning. He would also say, “Only you can make it a good day”. He was formerly very active in the Youth Baseball Association in Woodville.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas L. and Sue Nerren; father, John Edwin Harry; father-in-law, Billy Bailey; and sister, Sheila Netherton.


He is survived by his wife of over 45 years, Stephanie Harry of Reklaw; sons, Chad Edwin Harry and wife Whitney of Del Rio, and Robert Lee Harry and wife Melissa of Reklaw; mother-in-law, Shirley Bailey of Colmesneil; brother-in-law Bill Bailey and wife, Angie of Colmesneil; sisters, Deborah Mathis and husband David of Dayton, Dianne Luce of Abbeville, LA; and Shanna Rose and husband Daryl of Woodville; grandchildren, Madelyn Harry, Logan Harry, Makenna Harry, Destiny Harry, Cameron Harry, Isabella Harry, and Skylar Harry; nieces, Kacey Mott-Long, Summer Bailey, and Autumn Rose; and nephew, Shane Monzingo.

Services are under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home in Woodville, Texas.
