Obituary of Brenda Lue Call August 3, 1943 - April 4, 2025

Brenda Lue Primrose Call, age 81, aka “Moo” passed away peacefully on Friday, April 4, 2025 at Timberidge Nursing and Rehabilitation in Jasper, Texas.

Brenda was born on August 3, 1943 to Lawrence Primrose and Elvie Behannon Primrose in Beaumont, Texas. She was a native of Roganville, Texas and grew up in Jasper.

Brenda was a proud graduate of Jasper High School, Class of 1961. After graduation Brenda attended Hardin Simmons University in Abilene, Texas to pursue a nursing degree. She then met and married Thomas Vaughn in 1963 and together they had three children, Sammy Vaughn, William “Billy” Vaughn and Julia Vaughn Sisk.

Ten years later, after their divorce, Brenda returned to Jasper and poured her heart and soul into raising her 3 children in a safe and loving Christian home. She loved whatever they loved and was the best booster for FFA, football, track, baseball, softball, basketball, cheerleading, and band. She was always there to support her kids and lend a hand when needed.

For the first few years back in Jasper, Brenda worked under Dr Richardson and Dr Dickerson in their respective practices. She then worked 15+ years for the Jasper County Clerk’s office until many in the community urged her to run for Jasper County Treasurer. After being elected, she worked for several years helping to clean up the County’s books. Over the years she also worked in other capacities in Jasper County such as clerk to both Judge Freddie Miller in Jasper and Judge Susan Ratcliff in Kirbyville. For many years to help pay the bills she worked as a waitress at the Jasper Country Club. She also loved spending time with friends at Captain Kelly’s, especially when Mark C was in town.

When she married her second husband, in 1990 she was able to travel all over the continental United States installing security systems in airports and prisons from Kalamazoo, MI to Los Angeles, CA to Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN to Salt Lake City, UT to Tampa Bay, FL. In 1995 she moved overseas and lived for 2+ years in the United Arab Emirates. While there they worked directly for Sheikh Zahedan bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the president of the UAE and ruler of Abu Dhabi at the time, installing a security system in his private airport.

If you knew Brenda then you knew she was happiest on this side of paradise when she was cooking and baking for those she loved. She lived a full and storied life and is now at the feet of Jesus.

Brenda is preceded in death by her father Lawrence Primrose and mother Elvie Behannon Primrose. She is survived by her three children Sammy Vaughn and wife Olivia of Streetman, Texas, William “Billy” Vaughn of Jasper, Texas and Julia Vaughn Sisk of Jasper, Texas. She is also survived by her dear brother, whom she loved more than life itself, Larry H Primrose I and wife Lona, her nephew Larry H Primrose ll and fiancée Kate, her niece Lisa Primrose Frankel and husband Trey, and several cousins.

She was a proud grandmother to Amber Vaughn, Phillip King and wife Tyler, Ashley Vaughn and Nikki McCormick, Jordan Vaughn and wife Jordan, Joseph Sisk, Ashley Taylor, Brandon Ferguson, Thelma Mancha and husband Chris, and LuraBeth Cottle, as well as 12 great-grandchildren.

A visitation to celebrate Brenda’s legacy with friends and family will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2025 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Stringer and Griffin Funeral Home in Jasper, Texas. A private burial will be held at a later date at Friendship Cemetery in Roganville, Texas.
