Obituary of Betty (Carolyn) "Nana" Wigley August 31, 1945 - February 20, 2025

Betty (Carolyn) “Nana” Wigley, 79, of Jasper, passed away Thursday, February 20, 2025 at Woodville Health & Rehab Center in Woodville, Texas.

A celebration of Carolyn’s life will be held at a later date.

Carolyn was born August 31, 1945 to Robert A. and Vivian Lee Eaves in Jasper, Texas. A longtime resident of Cameron, LA, she retired after many years of providing fresh shrimp to the Lake Charles community via Carolyn’s Fresh Shrimp. Following Hurricane Laura, Carolyn returned to Jasper, TX where she remained until her death. Carolyn enjoyed painting, gardening, reading, fishing, sewing and cooking, but most of all she loved her family. She never missed an opportunity to dig up plants on road trips – always keeping a shovel in her car. If she wasn’t gardening, she could be found finishing a crossword puzzle at the table, reining in her children and grandchildren, or in the kitchen making chicken and dumplings and her famous trash cookies. Carolyn was a faithful member of Beech Creek Baptist Church in Spurger.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Eaves and Vivian Eaves McDaniel; infant son, Billy; brother, Robert Eaves and sister, Patsy Priesner.

She is survived by her sons; Billy C. Wigley of Woodville and Lester Wigley and wife Rebekah of Hardin, MT; daughters, Samantha Hunt and husband Randy and Winona “Wendy” Conn and husband David all of Jasper; brothers, Sydney Paul Eaves and wife Melinda of Orange, and Ray Paul McDaniel and wife Rose of Lake Charles, LA; sisters, Janice Weeks of Colmesneil, Nan Nicholson and husband Greg of Woodville, and Darla Eaves of Colmesneil; 11 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services are under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home in Woodville, Texas.
