Benny Hollingsworth

John 3:16

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

Benny “Papaw” Hollingsworth, age 88, of Jasper, Texas, entered into the presence of the Lord peacefully on Friday, January 24th. Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 28th at Hillcrest Baptist Church at 10 am with a Celebration of Life to follow at 11 am.

A longtime resident of Jasper and a devoted follower of Christ, Benny faithfully attended Hillcrest Baptist Church. At Hillcrest he was involved in Awana’s, was a Sunday School teacher, and a volunteer at any opportunity. To know him was to know the love of the LORD. There aren’t enough words to describe the JOY Benny brought to the world. His laughter made you laugh and his enthusiasm for Jesus was infectious. He was always there for a good joke or gifting million dollar bills to anyone and everyone. He never met a stranger and would never shy away from sharing The Word and love of our Father.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 31 years, Rhonda Hollingsworth; children, Shane Gresham and Cara of Burleson, Texas; Alicia Goff and Marcus Henslee of Lumberton, Texas; six grandchildren, Sophia, Ava-Jane, and Olivia Gresham and Anthony, Haylee, and Carsen Bruno.

He is reunited in Heaven with his parents, Charles and Lucille, two brothers, Gene and Charles, daughter, Kayla Goff, and countless family and friends.

The family requests that those who wish to express sympathy to consider making a donation to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Benny’s name in lieu of flowers.

Services are under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home of Jasper.
