Obituary of Arthur "Punkin" Herron May 7, 1943 - September 27, 2024 U.S. Veteran
A Celebration of Arthur “Punkin” Herron’s Life, age 81, of Jasper, Texas, will be 3:00 p.m., Sunday, September 29, 2024, at Jasper County Cowboy Church, Jasper, Texas with Masonic graveside service to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Jasper, Texas. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Saturday, September 28, 2024 at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home, Jasper, Texas.
Punkin passed away on Friday, September 27, 2028, at Harbor Hospice in Jasper, Texas. He was a native and former longtime resident of Highlands, Texas and resided in Jasper, Texas for the past 28 years. He served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam era. Punkin worked as a supervisor over several construction companies in the Houston area. He was a member of the Jasper Cowboy Church and the Dewitt Clinton Masonic Lodge #29 AF & AM. Punkin loved riding his John Deer Tractor, mowing and doing yard work. He loved his dog “Jake” but most of all he loved spending time with his Gwen.
Punkin is survived by his wife of over 28 years, Gwen Ealand Herron; sons, Tommy Herron of LaPorte, Texas and David Ealand and wife Regina of Jasper, Texas; daughter, Tammy Burton and husband Tim of Winnie, Texas; sisters, Nancy Giles, Shyanne Melton and Shirley Brantley; seven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by parents, Burl and Annie Herron; brothers, Roy Herron, Homer Herron and Bubba Herron; son, Doug Ealand and grandson, Taylor Ealand.
Memorials may be made the Shriner’s Hospital for Children, 815 Market Street, Galveston, Texas 77550.
Services are under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home of Jasper.
