Obituary of Arnold Wayne Cates 20 Nov 1941 - 10 Feb 2025

Arnold Wayne Cates, 83 a long time resident of Buna passed away peacefully in his home Monday morning February 10, 2025.

Funeral service will be 11 am Thursday, February 13, 2025 at Adams EE Stringer Funeral Home in Buna with burial at Morse Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 10 am prior to service.

Born November 20, 1941 to Joe Cates and Syble( Goins ) Cates in Buna, Texas He was an ironworker majority of his life and was a loyal union member of local 125 which is now local 135. He had a strong work ethic and thought everyone else should as well. His sense of humor will be dearly missed as well as his soft hearted nature! To know him was to love him!

He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Wanda Cates of Buna; daughter, Cheri and son-in-law Jerrold Gill of Brookeland; sister, Bonnie Harrison of Buna grandchildren: Marleigh Gill, Lindsey and Shelby McCauley, Jerrod and Allison Gill, Tori Dillard , Ashton and Damian Okun; great grandchildren: Keyton and Kye McCauley, Jaren, Jenson and Jameson Gill, Kyler, Kinsey, and Keithan Dillard, Reaghan, Slade and Harper Okun; his namesake, Arnold "Arnie" Cates; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Royce Cates and Nolan Gene Cates; sister, Syble Midkiff.
