Obituary for Barbara Ann Williams July 6, 1939 - October 1, 2024

A Celebration of Barbara Ann Williams’ Life, age 85, of Jasper, Texas, will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 4, 2024 at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home with burial to follow at Hancock Cemetery in Jasper, Texas. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at the Funeral Home.

Barbara passed away on Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at Rayburn Health Care & Rehabilitation in Jasper, Texas.

Born in Weehawken, New Jersey, she was raised in Alexandria, Virginia. In 1960, she graduated from nursing school in Washington, D.C. She and John Williams were married in Alexandria and moved to Texas where she worked as a registered nurse. Upon retirement, Barbara and John enjoyed over 20 years on their farm in Cushing, Texas before moving to Jasper. Barbara was an active member of First Methodist Church in Jasper.

Barbara is survived by her son, Andy Williams and his wife Dee from Montgomery, Texas; daughter, Susan Wright and husband Wes from Jasper, Texas; brothers, Richard Turner and wife Lonnie from Old Fort, North Carolina and Joe Turner and wife Rebecca from Charlotte, North Carolina and her grandchildren, Alex Wright and Nick Williams.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Annie Belle Turner and her husband of 63 years, John Williams.

Services are under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home of Jasper.
