Newton fire consumed two acres and one small structure
According to a public release, Newton Volunteer Fire Department said, "At 4:37pm Sunday, Newton Volunteer Fire Department responded to a brush fire at 9750 FM 2626. Approximately 2 acres with 1 small structure was burned and another structure was saved."
The release continued in saying that the fire was brought under control and contained at 6:00pm. The cause of the fire was a trash pile fire that spread from original origin.
BonWeir VFD responded as mutual aid.
Newton VFD encourages all residents to not burn during these high wind and low humidity days. We have not received enough significant rainfall yet.
