Press Release: Fatality Accident on a Deer Lease off FM 1416 near CR 4097
September 3, 2023
We are praying for the family and friends of a juvenile who was involved in a fatality ATV
(Four-Wheeler) accident that occurred on Saturday evening.
At 1729 hours, NCSO Dispatch received a report of an accident that occurred on a deer lease located off FM 1416 near CR 4097 in Belgrade. Our investigation on the scene revealed that this was a tragic accident. No name is permitted of the victim because the driver was a juvenile.
Calls To Services (August 28, 2023, to September 3, 2023): The Newton County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO) answered 54 calls to service.
Jail Population: We currently have 21 inmates in the following Jails, 15 housed in Newton, 6 housed in Jasper.
BURN BAN: Citations Shall be issued to anyone found starting a FIRE. This ban includes Fireworks.

Call: Vehicle ran into a Ditch, Animal Nuisance on CR 3075 (Lose Horse picked up and the owner identified and refused to answer our calls), Possible Fire (Unable to locate), Assault Family Violence, Animal Nuisance – 2 Horse Lose, Motorcycle Accident on FM 1004-Driver left the scene, People Shooting Guns at night, Possible Accident (unable to locate)
Deweyville: Medical Call, Fire (Citation Issued), Suspicious Activity, Property Damage (Fence)

Newton (Unincorporated Limits): Animal Nuisance/Abandonment (Horse and Donkey found tied to a tree on a hunting lease off CR 2626 near FM 2626) currently at the County’s Pen unknown owner at this time, Welfare Concern, Domestic Disturbance, Reckless Driving, Theft
