Calls To Service (June 3, 2024, to June 9, 2024):  The Newton County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO) answered 59 calls to service.

Jail Transports: NCSO had 4 jail transports;

1 from NCSO to TDC, 1 from NCSO to Dr. Appointment, 1 from JCSO to NCSO, 1 from NCSO to JMH.

Jail Population:   We currently have 23 inmates in the following jails;

4 housed in Newton, 10 housed in Beauregard, and 8 housed in Jasper, 1 at Mental Health Facility.

The following individuals were booked into the County Jail:

Gonzalez, Joel 06/04/24 MC Public Intoxication

Press Release: Shots Fired/Deadly Conduct Arrest: On June 7, 2024, NCSO Dispatchers received a report of shots fired in the 400 Block of CR 4110. Deputies arrived, and preliminary investigation on the scene revealed that an individual fired several shots striking a residence. The suspect was taken into custody and transported to Jail. Suspect is pending arraignment. This is an active investigations and updates will be provided when they become available.

Newton (Unincorporated Limits): Disturbance, Officer Assist x 2, Extra Patrol, Welfare Concern x 2, False Report x 2, Burglary, Abandoned Autos, Civil Matter

Burkeville: Public Intoxication, Theft, Extra Patrol

Call: Welfare Concern, Officer Assist x 2

Wiergate: Animal Nuisance, Disturbance x 2, Trespassing

Jamestown: 4-Wheeler Call

Liberty: Terroristic Threat

Bleakwood: Welfare Concern, Noise Complaint, Traffic Hazard, Reckless Driving

Trout Creek: Suspicious Activity

Sandjack: Mental Health
