Calls To Services (December 11, 2023, to December 17, 2023): 

The Newton County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO) answered 43 calls to service.

Jail Transports:

Newton County had 17 jail transports. 6 to Dr. Appointments, 8 from NCSO to Beauregard Parish, 2 from NCSO to JCSO, and 1 from NCSO to Dunn Unit.

Jail Population:   See my Press Release regarding Inmate Transports to Louisiana last week. We currently have 27 inmates in the following jails:

10 housed in Newton, 11 housed in Beauregard Parish, and 6 housed in Jasper.

Bon Wier: Officer Assist, Welfare Concern x2, Theft, Terroristic Threat, Traffic Hazard, Animal Nuisance

Deweyville: Theft, Welfare Concern, Animal Nuisance, Officer Assist, Disturbance x2

Newton (Unincorporated Limits): Officer Assist, Disturbance, Abandoned Vehicle

Bleakwood: Animal Nuisance

Kirbyville: Officer Assist, Fugitive Arrest - On December 14, 2023, DPS Narcotics Agents, DPS Patrol, Jasper County S.O., Newton County S.O., and Lumberton PD were involved in a fugitive from justice investigation regarding Rodney Blankenship. Newton County S.O. listed

Blankenship as a wanted person in November 2023. Blankenship was wanted for multiple felony warrants including Unauthorized use of a Vehicle, Poss of C/S, Unlawful Poss of Firearm by Felon, and a Probation Violation.
