Mississippi man arrested in Louisiana and charged with Evading Arrest out of Jasper County
28-year-old Dasmine Montez Young of Jackson, Mississippi Vernon Parish Jail
On Monday, October 28 the Texas Department of Public Safety attempted to stop a man from Jackson, Mississippi. The man failed to stop for the Trooper and fled from law enforcement on U.S. Highway 96 in Buna. Louisiana law enforcement ultimately arrested the man.
According to DPS Media Sergeant Shana Clark, "The preliminary investigation indicates that at approximately 10:39 p.m., a Trooper in the Buna area observed two vehicles traveling north, and the Trooper believed they were racing one another. The Trooper activated his emergency lights and sirens to conduct a traffic stop on both vehicles. However, one of the vehicles, a black Dodge Charger, began to flee. The Trooper began to pursue the Dodge Charger through Kirbyville but terminated the pursuit out of safety concerns. Louisiana law enforcement was notified of the pursuit and at approximately midnight, the Trooper was notified that the suspect vehicle had fled from Louisiana law enforcement, crashed the Charger and continued his flight on foot. The suspect was later apprehended."
During the investigation, the DPS Trooper confirmed the driver in custody was the driver who fled from him earlier in the night.
DPS obtained an arrest warrant for the suspect, identified as 28-year-old Dasmine Montez Young of Jackson, Mississippi, for evading arrest/detention in a vehicle, a felony offense. Young was arrested by Louisiana law enforcement for charges stemming from his flight from them.
