Missing girl found safe in Jasper County after multi-agency search
This morning, February 21, 2024, Jasper County Sheriff’s Office, San Augustine County Sheriff’s Office,
Jasper Police Department including their K9 Unit, and the US Marshall’s Service executed search
warrants on locations on the north end of Jasper County regarding missing juvenile Alissa Sandefer.
Sandefer was reported missing out of San Augustine County on February 10, 2024. Upon searching,
Sandefer was located at a camp house off County Road 086 in Jasper County, near the Angelina River.
Sandefer is safe and well.
A 25-year-old white male of Newton has been taken into custody on multiple charges, one being
Harboring a Runaway Child out of Jasper County. Once he has been booked, further information will be
released.
Chief Deputy Scott Duncan says that he is glad that we found Sandefer alive and well, and we will
continue to work with San Augustine County any way we can. Duncan wants to thank all agencies
involved for working seamlessly together for a safe resolution.
