Man found dead by his son in the Brookeland area

The Jasper County Sheriff's Department was called out last week to 125 Bluebird Lane in Brookeland for a welfare check after a concerned relative called and said that they were unable to contact the man for some time.

Deputies went to the residence but were unable to make contact with the individual.

On Monday morning, the missing man's son went to the residence to look for his father himself. Sadly, he discovered human remains on the ground next to his father's truck in the back yard.

Jasper County Information Officer Karli Cherry said, "The body has been identified as 60-year-old John Paul Wright of Jasper. Wright's body was in advanced stages of decomposition. Jasper County Precinct 5 Justice of the Peace Brett Holloway has ordered an autopsy, but there are no signs of foul play and the death is believed to have been due to natural causes."
