Major accident in Kirbyville today-One flown to JMH

At around 12:30 this afternoon, Kirbyville PD and Kirbyville Volunteer Fire Department were called out to the intersection of Hwy 96 and FM 82 for an collision between a grey 2020 Nissan Rogue and a 2024 Freightliner truck.


Kirbyville Police Sergeant Josh Hancock said, "the driver of the truck, 54-year-old Hilton Ray Higgenbotham of Vidor was traveling North on Hwy 96. He had stopped for the red light on FM 82 and began moving Northbound when the light turned green. At the same time , a 75-year-old Yolanda Morgan of Call approached the red light on FM 82 from the East and failed to stop, striking the rear of the trailer the truck was towing".


Morgan was flown by Allegiance EMS to Jasper Memorial Hospital.

Her condition is currently unknown.
