Mail truck and Kia crashed, but no injuries were reported
The Texas Department of Public Safety and the Kirbyville Police Department investigated a non-injury crash on U.S. Highway 96 at the intersection of County Road 457 that occurred Tuesday, October 31.
The preliminary crash investigation indicates that at approximately 11 a.m., a 2021 Kia Soul was traveling north on U.S. Highway 96 while a 1988 Grumman postal truck was traveling west on C.R. 457. It is reported that the driver of the postal truck failed to yield to the Kia at the stop sign and pulled into its path, where it was struck.
The driver of the Kia, identified as a 16-year-old juvenile of Newton, was not injured.
The driver of the postal truck, identified as 29-year-old Kahlona Perkins of Port Arthur, was cited for failing to yield the right of way at a stop intersection.
