Low-speed pursuit updated information

Update on the low-speed pursuit we reported on yesterday.


In a press release Wednesday, Public Information Officer Karli Cherry said, "On Sunday, July 28, 2024, the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call for service on County Road 150 in the Beech Grove area in reference to an assault. Upon arrival, the suspect had retreated

into the home and refused to talk with deputies. The victim was treated and left the scene and warrants were presented and issued for the suspects arrest.

On Tuesday, July 30, 2024, Jasper County deputies located the suspect travelling on FM 777 in Jasper and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The suspect vehicle slowed down and motioned to the deputy to go around him with his arm out the window. The deputy activated his sirens and the vehicle came to

a stop at the intersection of FM 777 and HWY 190 and refused to exit the vehicle upon the deputy’s

commands. The suspect then fled in the vehicle with the deputy pursuing. Jasper Police Department was contacted and assisted in getting the vehicle safely stopped on HWY 190 near Lakes Area Vet Clinic".


53-year-old Christopher McKeen, white male of Jasper, Texas was taken into custody for the July 28 incidents of Assault Causes Bodily Injury (MA) and Resisting Arrest Search or Transport w/ Deadly Weapon (F3) and the July 30 charges of Evading Arrest/Detention w/ Vehicle (FS), Resisting Arrest Search or Transport, and Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon (MA). McKeen remains in the Jasper County Jail on bonds totaling $149,000.00 set by JP5 Brett Holloway.
