Land Attorney has recused himself from the case

Alexandria attorney Jonathan Goins who initially stated that he would represent the Land family against the City of Jasper and the Police Officers involved in the shooting death of Elvin Dean Land, has now recused himself from the case.

Goins released a statement saying that he believes what happened to Land was "despicable", but he can't help.

Goins added, "Land did not deserve to be ambushed and shot more than 20 times. Let's be clear, this was an overkill. However there still remains the facts surrounding the unfortunate incident. Under the law, an individual is justified in the use of force as long as his use of force is not greater than or equal to the initial force".

It is currently unknown what if anything the family now intends to do.
