Lady Hornets Sting the Lady Cats
Kirbyville Lady Cats volleyball hosted the Hardin Lady Hornets tonight in the Lady Cat Den. Lady Cats freshman team started things off with a rally in the first set. The Freshman Lady Hornets re-grouped and came back to win it 25-22. The second set the Lady Cats couldn’t seem to settle into a rhythm allowing the game to go back and forth. Ultimately the Lady Hornets carried the momentum into the second set taking the victory 25-16.
Next up were the JV Lady Cats looking to break out their slump with a win. The game appeared to be evenly matched, but the Lady Cats couldn’t make any anything happen in the first set. The Lady Hornets capitalized on the Lady Cats missed serves besting the Lady Cats 25-10. In the second set, the Lady Cats again struggled to rally against the Lady Hornets. After the Lady Cats played their hearts out, the Lady Hornets took the second and final set 25-16.
Finally on the night, your varsity Lady Cats hit the floor looking to upset the Lady Hornets. Lady Cats came out firing on all cylinders looking ready for battle. The first set, the Lady Cats dominated all the way winning 25-15. Lady Cats started strong in the second set with multiple rallies from both teams. The Lady Hornets swarmed the ball rallying back from a deficit to take the second set 25-22. The Lady Cats had a short in the third set rally but couldn’t pull together to get back on the scoreboard. The Lady Hornets over-powered the Lady Cats 25-8. Lady Cats went down swinging in the finally set of the night, but the Lady Hornets steadily pulled away take the final set and game 25-15. Even though the Lady Cats didn’t get the dub there were several ESPN worthy plays from the back row to the front. Every Lady Cat did their part trying to play as a team. K. Meredith had a couple of digs along with T. Sanders with multiple blocks. C. Wiggins did a great job on spikes and kept team moral up. D. Roberts was all over the court lending her skills where needed. These Lady Cats are playing with heart, and you can’t ask for more, but there’s going to be that moment were everything comes together for them, and BAM!! They’re going to be on fire!! Good Luck Lady Cats as they take on the Buna Lady Cougars, the Lady Cougars are predicted to win district this year. So this will be a tough game for the Lady Cats. This is the preliminary event to the South County Showdown in The Ville Friday Night. Games start at 4:30 pm with Varsity playing first.
